PaintingTengu Descension Tribal warriors for GCT's Bushido
Finally getting some painting done and I'm really loving these Tengu (well the human component to the Tengu faction) models from GCT's game Bushido. I'm not totally happy with the way Nuniq (the one with the spear) is turning out but overall I'm really happy both with my choice of faction, and with the way they are starting to look.

Khorne Bloodbound Test
This is the current state of my test scheme for my Khorne Bloodbound. I wanted to have a go at translating the heresy era World Eaters scheme of ceramic white and powder blue as I've always thought it was really striking but never intended to get into the huge money sink that is 30k. I'm hapoy with the way this has turned out although the test paintjob is pretty messy and unrefined as it stands. I'm going to prime the reavers white from the waist up before starting with the rest and work up a paler, pinker flesh tone that I will contrast with a much darker one for some of the other models.

Edinburgh Claymore 2018
So myself and my kid made it along to the Claymore wargaming convention in Edinburgh. It had been a long long time since I had been through Edinburgh so it was interesting to be back there for a little bit. Apart from visiting a Games Workshop Gamesday an eon ago this was actually my first wargaming convention. It filled two big halls and a third much smaller one, which was mostly taken up by the bring and buy stalls, and it was fairly busy which was nice to see. There were a lot of great looking games and it was nice getting to see products in person that we mostly only ever see in .jpgs on webstores. Big crowds and unfamiliar spaces cause me some trouble and the kid also had a small amount of trouble (not serious but time consuming and annoying for them) with low blood sugar so we didn't get to do quite as much as we would have liked. A great day overall though!
We tried a game called Warpack which was an interesting miniature agnostic rank-and-file fantasy game with a faction builder and a completely diceless system. Its not for me but it felt interesting and like there was a decent bit of potential so its definitely worth checking out. Diceless systems are incredibly rare in wargaming, especially miniature wargaming so its worth a look for that alone I think.
What caught my eye in particular and had passed me by till now was Lucid Eye Publications. I've been pretty 15mm focussed for a while so 28mm+ lines tend not to register but I really like the look of their Savage Core and The Red Book of the Elf King games so much so I picked up the rulebook for The Red Book and a few models. The Red Book seems like exactly the sort of thing I want from a 28mm skirmish game and I'm excited to read the rulebook and to convince someone to have a game of it with.
I'll hopefully get some updates on painting and maybe a more in depth look at the rulebook soon. Also some 15mm stuff which was actually the main reason I started this blog...
